Civil Engineering is a core discipline that deals with design, construction, maintenance of physical infrastructure such as Roads and highways, Bridges, water supply systems, waste management systems etc. Civil engineers play a crucial role in shaping-built environment, ensuring public safety and improving quality of life. The field significant impacts on society by contributing to Infrastructure development, Disaster resilience, Sustainable development, Economic growth.
The Department of Civil Engineering established in 2012, offers an undergraduate program with an intake capacity of 30 students. In line with industry demands, we have expanded our academic offerings to include a postgraduate program in structural Engineering, commencing in 2025 with an intake capacity of 18 students.
The department has well qualified and dedicated faculties with diverse areas of specialization. The faculties and students actively participate in academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as well. They are also engaged in research projects and frequently their research papers are published in national & international journals. The department is well equipped with state-of-art laboratories and computational facilities.

The Concrete Technology Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC_FOE, Khamshet Pune is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of concrete materials, mix design, and construction technology. The Surveying Laboratory is a practical facility designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the principles and techniques of land surveying. It supports the theoretical concepts taught in civil engineering, geomatics, and related disciplines by enabling students to perform field measurements, data collection, and mapping exercises using modern surveying instruments.

The laboratory is equipped with a variety of instruments such as chains, tapes, prismatic compasses, dumpy levels, auto levels, theodolites, total stations, GPS receivers, plane tables, and leveling staffs. These instruments help students learn the methods of measuring distances, angles, elevations, and coordinates accurately.

The AutoCAD Laboratory is a specialized computer laboratory established to provide students with practical knowledge and skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for civil engineering applications. The laboratory enables students to create, modify, analyze, and present engineering drawings efficiently using modern CAD software.

The lab is equipped with computers installed with AutoCAD and other relevant design and drafting software. It provides an environment where students can learn technical drawing standards, prepare engineering drawings, and develop digital drafting skills required in professional engineering practice.

The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC-FOE, Khamshet Pune is established to provide practical knowledge and technical skills related to soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and subsurface investigations. The laboratory enables students to understand the engineering behavior and properties of soils used in construction and infrastructure projects.

The laboratory is equipped with modern testing apparatus for conducting various experiments on soil classification, compaction, permeability, shear strength, consolidation, and bearing capacity analysis. Students gain hands-on experience in performing laboratory and field-oriented tests as per Indian Standard specifications, helping them understand the importance of soil properties in the safe and economical design of foundations, pavements, retaining structures, embankments, and earth dams.

The laboratory helps students understand the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation facilities such as roads, highways, airports, and railways.

The laboratory is equipped with modern testing equipment for evaluating the properties and performance of road construction materials including aggregates, bitumen, and asphalt mixes. Students gain hands-on experience in conducting laboratory tests as per Indian Standard (IS) and IRC specifications, enabling them to understand the quality control and design aspects of flexible and rigid pavements.

The Environmental Engineering Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC-FOE, Khamshet Pune is established to provide students with practical knowledge and technical skills related to water supply, wastewater treatment, environmental pollution control, and public health engineering. The laboratory helps students understand the importance of environmental sustainability, safe water management, and pollution monitoring in modern infrastructure development.

Dr. G. R. Patil is a distinguished Professor and researcher in Civil and Structural Engineering with 38 years of academic, research, and administrative experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from IIT Guwahati and an M.E. from IISc Bangalore and B.E. in Civil Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Karad. His expertise includes Structural Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering, Finite Element Method, RCC Design, and Sustainable Construction Practices.
He has published 40+ research papers, authored books and book chapters, guided 65+ postgraduate dissertations, and published patents in the field of structural vibration control and earthquake engineering. Dr. Patil has actively contributed as NBA Coordinator, NIRF Nodal Officer, ARIIA Coordinator, reviewer for Springer journals, and member of syllabus revision committees of reputed universities.
