Civil Engineering is a core discipline that deals with design, construction, maintenance of physical infrastructure such as Roads and highways, Bridges, water supply systems, waste management systems etc. Civil engineers play a crucial role in shaping-built environment, ensuring public safety and improving quality of life. The field significant impacts on society by contributing to Infrastructure development, Disaster resilience, Sustainable development, Economic growth.
The Department of Civil Engineering established in 2012, offers an undergraduate program with an intake capacity of 30 students. In line with industry demands, we have expanded our academic offerings to include a postgraduate program in structural Engineering, commencing in 2025 with an intake capacity of 18 students.
The department has well qualified and dedicated faculties with diverse areas of specialization. The faculties and students actively participate in academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as well. They are also engaged in research projects and frequently their research papers are published in national & international journals. The department is well equipped with state-of-art laboratories and computational facilities.

The Concrete Technology Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC_FOE, Khamshet Pune is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of concrete materials, mix design, and construction technology. The laboratory is equipped with modern testing equipment and facilities to conduct various tests on cement, aggregates, fresh concrete, and hardened concrete as per Indian Standard specifications.
The Surveying Laboratory is a practical facility designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the principles and techniques of land surveying. It supports the theoretical concepts taught in civil engineering, geomatics, and related disciplines by enabling students to perform field measurements, data collection, and mapping exercises using modern surveying instruments.
The laboratory is equipped with a variety of instruments such as chains, tapes, prismatic compasses, dumpy levels, auto levels, theodolites, total stations, GPS receivers, plane tables, and leveling staffs. These instruments help students learn the methods of measuring distances, angles, elevations, and coordinates accurately.
The AutoCAD Laboratory is a specialized computer laboratory established to provide students with practical knowledge and skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for civil engineering applications. The laboratory enables students to create, modify, analyze, and present engineering drawings efficiently using modern CAD software.
The lab is equipped with computers installed with AutoCAD and other relevant design and drafting software. It provides an environment where students can learn technical drawing standards, prepare engineering drawings, and develop digital drafting skills required in professional engineering practice.
The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC-FOE, Khamshet Pune is established to provide practical knowledge and technical skills related to soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and subsurface investigations. The laboratory enables students to understand the engineering behavior and properties of soils used in construction and infrastructure projects.
The laboratory is equipped with modern testing apparatus for conducting various experiments on soil classification, compaction, permeability, shear strength, consolidation, and bearing capacity analysis. Students gain hands-on experience in performing laboratory and field-oriented tests as per Indian Standard specifications, helping them understand the importance of soil properties in the safe and economical design of foundations, pavements, retaining structures, embankments, and earth dams.
The Transportation Engineering Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC-FOE, Khamshet Pune is developed to provide practical knowledge and technical skills related to highway materials, pavement construction, traffic engineering, and transportation infrastructure systems. The laboratory helps students understand the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation facilities such as roads, highways, airports, and railways.
The laboratory is equipped with modern testing equipment for evaluating the properties and performance of road construction materials including aggregates, bitumen, and asphalt mixes. Students gain hands-on experience in conducting laboratory tests as per Indian Standard (IS) and IRC specifications, enabling them to understand the quality control and design aspects of flexible and rigid pavements.
The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC-FOE, Khamshet Pune is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience related to the behavior and properties of fluids in motion and at rest. The laboratory helps students understand the fundamental principles of fluid flow, pressure measurement, hydraulic systems, and flow through pipes and channels, which are essential in civil and hydraulic engineering applications.
The laboratory is equipped with modern experimental setups and hydraulic machines for conducting various experiments related to fluid properties, flow measurement, energy losses, and hydraulic performance. Students perform experiments as per standard engineering practices to understand theoretical concepts through practical applications.
The Environmental Engineering Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department at SRTTC-FOE, Khamshet Pune is established to provide students with practical knowledge and technical skills related to water supply, wastewater treatment, environmental pollution control, and public health engineering. The laboratory helps students understand the importance of environmental sustainability, safe water management, and pollution monitoring in modern infrastructure development.
The laboratory is equipped with modern instruments and testing facilities for analyzing physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of water and wastewater. Students perform various experiments as per Indian Standard specifications to evaluate water quality parameters and understand treatment processes used in environmental engineering practices.
The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit to Gargoti – The Gem & Mineral Museum, Sinnar, Nashik on 30 March 2026. The visit was arranged as a part of the SPPU 2024 Pattern Curriculum for the subject Engineering Geology. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to various types of minerals, rocks, gemstones, and geological formations studied in the syllabus.
The Department of Civil Engineering organized Hands on Training session on Project Management using projectlibre software with the objective of strengthening the fundamental knowledge of students in the field of Project Management. This software includes scheduling of project using CPM PERT techniques. Resources management like labour assignment, material required, setting standards using resource breakdown structure. Also provides multiple views including gantt, network diagram. The aim of organizing this session was to provide students with practical insights of project management and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical engineering applications. Expert-training conducted by professionals from industry and academia play an important role in enhancing students' learning experiences and motivating them toward professional excellence.
The Department of Civil Engineering organized an expert lecture on "Fundamentals of Structural Analysis" on 24th March 2026 with the objective of strengthening the fundamental knowledge of students in the field of structural engineering. Structural analysis is one of the core subjects in civil engineering that deals with determining the effects of loads on structures and their components. Proper understanding of structural analysis helps engineers design safe, stable; and economical structures. The aim of organizing this lecture was to provide students with practical insights into the analysis of structures and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical engineering applications. Expert lectures conducted by professionals from industry and academia play an important role in enhancing students' learning experiences and motivating them toward professional excellence.
The Bridge Making Competition is a technical event designed to encourage creativity, innovation, and practical application of engineering principles among students. In this competition, participants design and construct model bridges using limited materials while focusing on strength, stability, design efficiency, and aesthetics. The event helps students develop teamwork, problem-solving abilities, structural analysis skills, and hands-on learning experience in civil engineering concepts. It also promotes healthy competition and enhances students’ interest in structural engineering and sustainable construction practices.
The Department of Civil Engineering at Suman Ramesh Tulsiani Technical Campus-Faculty of Engineering, Khamshet, organized a workshop on DGPS Surveying, a cutting-edge technology used in various civil engineering applications. The workshop aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of DGPS Surveying principles, applications, and benefits. Workshop Objectives 1. To introduce students to the fundamentals of DGPS Surveying and its applications in civil engineering. 2. To provide hands-on training on DGPS Surveying techniques and software. 3. To discuss the benefits and limitations of DGPS Surveying in civil engineering projects.
